Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect the personal data of our readers, authors, and reviewers.

Arab Media & Society is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who visits the journal, submits a manuscript, or serves as a reviewer. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.

Data We Collect

We collect the personal data you provide directly to us: the name, email address, affiliation, and ORCID identifier supplied when you register an account, submit a manuscript, or agree to review. If you subscribe to the mailing list, we store your email address. We also collect limited technical data automatically when you browse the site, such as page views and the article read counts that drive our Most Read ranking.

How We Use Your Data

Personal data is used to operate the journal: to manage submissions and peer review, to correspond with authors and reviewers, to publish accepted articles with their author metadata, and to send the mailing list you have subscribed to. Published author names, affiliations, and ORCID identifiers appear on the public article page — that is the purpose of publication. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Retention and Security

Submission and peer review records are retained for as long as they are needed for the editorial record, including handling any post-publication corrections or ethics enquiries. Account data is retained while your account is active. Data is stored on access-controlled systems and is available only to editorial staff who need it to do their work.

Your Rights

You may request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to retain it as part of the editorial record. You may unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time using the link in any email. To exercise any of these rights, contact the editorial office through the journal's contact page.
